Boltjes wants to halve time to market with ORTEC production planning tool

Pipe manufacturer Boltjes, which is based in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, recently implemented ORTEC's planning tool ORTEC Planwise for its production planning. ORTEC is one of the largest providers of advanced planning and optimization software solutions and consulting services. This IT specialist recently also opened an office in Bucharest, Romania, from which it provides services to the rapidly increasing number of customers in Central and Eastern Europe.
Pipe manufacturer Boltjes wants to halve its time to market by deploying ORTEC’s planning tool Planwise for its production planning. Boltjes has selected ORTEC Planwise because it improves the company’s control over its planning. The result: more efficient deployment of its resources and more effective management of its stock levels. Because of the strong fluctuations in the price of raw materials, it is important to Boltjes that stocks remain as low as possible.
In spite of its low stocks, Boltjes wants to continue to be a flexible supplier for its customers. “The customer calls and we produce,” explained CEO Ivor Poprach from Boltjes International s.r.o. “Our delivery periods are currently approximately six weeks, while the customer expects delivery within two to three weeks. Consequently, we hope that ORTEC Planwise will enable us to reduce these periods to three weeks.”
Realtime en multi-user
“It was important to us that ORTEC Planwise could be implemented in real time and for multiple users. This enables us to adapt the production process as required by the customer and provides more regular updates regarding the status of orders in progress. Because ORTEC Planwise is a multi-user system, the same planning screen can be displayed in Czech in the Czech Republic and in Dutch in The Netherlands.”
