Croatian Oil Company INA selects ORTEC for Fleet Scheduling and Inventory ManagementFebruary 04, 2008

Oil company INA Industrija Nafte d.d. in Croatia has selected ORTEC’s route optimization system SHORTREC for optimal scheduling of her fleet. ORTEC’s demand forecasting and order generation tool ORION will be used to manage the inventory of INA’s petrol stations. INA is the first company in this region to make use of such advanced planning systems.

After completing the implementation of SAP a year ago, it was time to take the next step in automation. INA’s Director of Logistics Mr. Prpic states, “For INA to advance in the European market we must invest in improved transportation systems that will optimize our logistics operation. Innovation is the key. SHORTREC and ORION are important instruments to achieve this goal. We are dealing with many challenges and constraints, including rising fuel prices, strict legislation, strong competition and increased customer demand. Tools that will improve our fleet utilization and service levels, help manage these challenges and optimize within these constraints, are becoming increasingly important.”

‘Orders will be generated automatically’
INA will use ORION to manage the inventory of its petrol stations and replace the current order taking process. “Using ORION we will be able to predict when petrol stations need to be replenished and orders will be generated automatically. The volume and frequency of deliveries will be optimized,” says Mr. Prpic. “SHORTREC will be used for optimized scheduling of products from refineries to depots, and to wholesale customers and retail stations. These systems will help us centralize our logistic planning and remove any efficiency gaps."
